Volunteering

Lending a hand to a local project or organisation is also a great alternative way to keep active and social at the same time. Below are a handful of examples of different volunteering initiatives. 

The Voluntary Action Arun & Chichester (VAAC) website list current volunteering opportunities in the area. Visit their website to see what positions are available. 

Arun District Council run their own volunteer groups that help look after our parks. They do a range of practical activities, such as litter picking, surveys and tree planting. Go to the Arun District Council Community Group webpage for further details.  

For those "Green Thumbs" out there, there is a community gardening group in Bognor. Please visit the Bognor Community Gardeners Facebook page for information. You could also volunteer with your local 'In Bloom' group.

If you want to get involved in conservation work and protecting our wild spaces, head to the South Downs National Park website to see their vacancies. Additionally, Sussex Wildlife Trust post opportunities on their website, as do Arundel Wetlands Centre (WWT). You could also take part in Community Litter Picking in Felpham with Blakes Mead Community Association. 

Why not help an elderly resident by borrowing their furry friend for an afternoon walk? The Cinnamon Trust website offer opportunities to do so.

Men's Sheds are community spaces where men can get together to enjoy practical hobbies, benefitting their health and wellbeing. We have two in Littlehampton and one in Bognor, so visit the Men's Sheds website for more information.
