Refill - free tap water

Keep hydrated

Staying hydrated isn’t just for the warm summer weather. It’s important to drink plenty all year round – did you know, for example, that our brains are 75% water? Southern Water's website has advice on why it’s important to drink plenty, and you can find easy swaps on the NHS Better Health, Healthier Families website. Tap water comes out highly recommended – it’s cheap, sugar-free, and easily accessible.

It’s sometimes more difficult to access tap water when you’re out and about. A national initiative, supported by West Sussex County Council and our Districts and Boroughs, is aiming to change that.

What is Refill?

Refill is a practical tap water campaign that aims to make refilling a water bottle as easy, convenient and as cheap as possible by introducing Refill Stations on every street. It has the twin benefits of reducing single use plastic and importantly helping us stay hydrated, without needing fizzy or sugary drinks.

How it works

Refill Stations welcome people who ask for their bottle to be refilled with tap water for free. You can download the Refill app to find free Refill Stations near you.
